This is very beautiful tonearm made by Technics, model EPA-100. Armward is made from Titanium.
Specification:
Arm pipe Special nitriding high strength titanium pipe
Arm effective length 250mm
Arm length range 322mm to 350mm
Arm rear length range 66mm ~ 94mm
Arm height adjustment mechanism 45mm ~ 90mm (Helicoid part 6mm)
Overhang 15mm
A universal tone arm developed by tackling the big issue of the pickup system of low-frequency resonance braking.
From high-compliance type to low-compliance type, it adopts a variable braking dynamic damping mechanism that can properly brake low-frequency resonance, and brings out the characteristics of the cartridge.
One side of the main weight is divided and supported by a spring, and the other side is floated by the attractive force between two magnets attached to the rear of the weight and the damping selector. The resonance of this weight is braked by viscous silicone oil and a damping cylinder, and by effectively braking the resonance of the entire pickup system, it has succeeded in suppressing the resonance to less than half of the conventional one.
The resonance frequency of the main weight can be adjusted with the damping selector at the rear of the main weight according to the compliance of the cartridge, and the braking amount can be set to an appropriate value.
The arm pipe with an outer diameter of 9.5mm and a material thickness of 0.5mm employs a titanium nitride pipe arm made of titanium, which is lightweight and mechanically strong, and is hardened with nitrogen. While reducing the weight to%, it has gained about 1.6 times mechanical strength and large internal loss.
The support structure of the tone arm employs a gimbal suspension system that employs a bearing with an in-house manufactured high precision pivot bearing for both the horizontal and vertical rotating parts. The horizontal and vertical rotation axes intersect at a single point, reducing the initial sensitivity and sensitivity differences in all rotational directions.
A ruby with a friction coefficient of about 1/3 of steel is superfinished into a ball with a sphericity of ± 0.5μ, and 20 stones are used.
Combined with the gimbal suspension system, it achieves a high sensitivity of initial sensitivity of 5mg.
